Akilas Mitilineos 1999-yil 11-fevralda [[Serres]]da tugʻilgan. U pontiyalik-yunon kelib chiqishiga ega<ref>{{Cite web |title=Eurovision 2026 Akylas: Ήθελα από την αρχή να βάλω στο Ferto κάτι από τις ρίζες μου |url=https://toprotoselido.gr/eurovision-2026-akylas-ithela-apo-tin-archi-na-valo-sto-ferto-kati-apo-tis-rizes-moy/ |url-status=live |access-date=21 April 2026 |website=toprotoselido.gr}}</ref>. Serres 1-oʻrta maktabida oʻrta taʼlimni tamomlagach, u Salonikiga koʻchib oʻtdi, u yerda oshpazlik maktabini tugatdi va restoranlarda ishlaydi<ref name="parallaxi" />. Shuningdek, u Aida Cruises kompaniyasining kema sayohatlari kemalarida ikki yil davomida xonanda sifatida ishlagan<ref>{{cite web |language=el-gr |author=Eva Plakas |title=Eurovision 2026: Ο Akylas ανέβασε τη μητέρα του στη σκηνή και ξέσπασαν όλοι σε δάκρυα |url=https://www.hellenicdailynewsny.com/ev-zin/psyxagogia/eurovision-2026-o-akylas-anevase-ti-mitera-tou-sti-skini-kai-ksespasan-oloi-se-dakrya |website=Hellenic Daily News NY |date=2026-02-16 |access-date=2026-02-17}}</ref>. U: „Men musiqa litseyini bitirganman va koʻp teatr ustaxonalari va shunga oʻxshash narsalarda qatnashganman, lekin haqiqatan ham vokal tayyorgarligiga yoki shunga oʻxshash narsalarga eʼtibor qaratmagan edim. Ikki yil ishlagan sayohat kemasida men har kuni kuylardim — diskoteka, pop, rok. Shuning uchun bu master-klassga oʻxshardi. Men u yerda ikki yarim oy boʻlardim, keyin ikki oyga uyga qaytardim… …Shunday qilib, bu Eurovision sahnasiga tayyorlanish uchun yaxshi mashgʻulot maydoni boʻldi,…“ deb izoh bergan<ref>{{Cite web|url=https://www.tlife.gr/eidhseis-nea/akylas-eurovision-2026-to-queer-pop-fainomeno-pou-egine-favori-i-katagogi-i-sygkinisi-tis-miteras-tou-to-voice-kai-to-viral-ferto/1710209/ |title=Akylas, Eurovision 2026: The queer pop phenomenon who became a favorite – His origins, his mother's emotion, the Voice and the viral "Ferto" |date=11 February 2026|website=tlife.gr|publisher=TLife|quote=Before making his recording debut, he worked for about two years as a singer on cruise ships, traveling throughout Europe, Africa, the Middle East, and Asia. There, through daily performances, he developed artistically and gained experience that, as he has stated, served as a “masterclass” for the stage. 'I graduated from a music high school, and I’ve done plenty of theater workshops and things like that, but I hadn’t really focused on vocal training or anything like that. On the cruise ship where I worked for two years, I sang every day—disco, pop, rock. So it was like a masterclass. I was there for two and a half months, then I’d go home for two months. Two and a half months there, two months home. So it was a good training ground to get ready for the Eurovision stage,'... |access-date=14 May 2026 }}</ref>.
