Proksima (proximus — „eng yaqin“) — Kentavr yulduz turkumidagi eng yorugʻ yulduz. Aslida bu yulduz uch karrali vizual yulduz boʻlib, uni tashkil etuvchilarning yulduz kattaliklari 0,04; 1,17 va 10,67 ga teng. Ulardan eng xirasini 1915-yilda ingliz astronomi Robert T. A. Innes kashf etgan.<ref name="Innes1915">{{jurnal manbasi |title=A Faint Star of Large Proper Motion |last1=Innes |first1=R. T. Proksima qizil mitti yulduzdir. Uning massasi Quyosh massasining (<var>M</var>☉) 12,5% ni tashkil etadi, oʻrtacha zichligi esa Quyoshnikidan 33 baravar koʻpdir. Proksimaning Yerga yaqinligi tufayli uning oʻq diametrini bevosita oʻlchash mumkin. Uning diametri Quyosh diametrining yettidan bir qismini (14%) tashkil qiladi.
